Lulabelles lunches all began with Lulabelle; and Lulabelle all began in Germany in 1959. She was born to be a fire truck, which is a noble and exciting job, and one our Lulabelle is very proud of, but it’s not all that glamorous…
Lulabelle had always been considered a beauty, and then, when she was still young, she got talent scouted by a collector from LA. He was a real VW camper van expert and thought she really had what it took. Lulabelle was entranced by the bright lights of LA and went off happily to become a star. But, as it turned out, being a model VW camper van is just a lot of standing around looking pretty, and Lulabelle was finding it all frightfully dull. She waited patiently for her chance to escape and then one night, the collector left the gate unlocked and Lulabelle made her bid for freedom.
She was adopted on the Californian coast by a group of young English and American surfers. They told her tales of all their travels around the world, while she took them around the surf spots of the U.S. Lulabelle loved being a free spirit with the surfers and loved hearing all their stories, especially the ones about England. It became Lulabelle’s dream to move to Yorkshire. She told the young people about her dream, and they agreed to point her in the right direction.
Lulabelle travelled by sea to England, where the salt and spray (not to mention the years of being a surf wagon), wreaked havoc with her complexion! So she was looking a bit shabby and dishevelled by the time she got to England.
One fine day, in Yorkshire, she bumped into a lovely lady called Cathy, who saw how pretty she was and fell in love with her at once! Cathy gave Lulabelle a complete makeover and nursed her back to health, during which time they became the best of friends. After discovering a mutual love of cupcakes and all things yummy, Cathy and Lulabelle hatched the plan to tour the countryside together having adventures, feeding hungry tummies and making friends.
